Special Event: Mandel House Restoration Tour
Bloomington,
IL. Old House Society hosted Tours of the 1894 Oscar Mandel Home,
now located at 402 E. Grove in Bloomington, on Saturday, October 22, 2005
from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This was the public’s first opportunity to
visit inside this beautiful, historic Bloomington home since it was moved
last fall.
The 1894 Queen Anne home was designed by Bloomington architect George
Miller, and had remained virtually unchanged since an interior remodeling
in 1909. The focus of the tours was on the restoration activities currently
in process or already finished, and to answer people’s individual
questions on site. Information about restoration techniques was also available.
No advance tickets were sold. Admission at the door was $10.
Proceeds benefitted Old House Society Foundation, which was created to
manage this project, and fund future restoration projects.
Old House Society is an Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) not for
profit organization.
